具体描述

内容简介

Winner of the 1973 National Book Award, "Gravityas Rainbow" is a postmodern epic, a work as exhaustively significant to the second half of the twentieth century as Joyceas "Ulysses" was to the first. Its sprawling, encyclopedic narrative and penetrating analysis of the impact of technology on society make it an intellectual tour de force.

作者简介

Thomas Pynchon is the author of V., The Crying of Lot 49, Gravity's Rainbow, Slow Learner, a collection of short stories, Vineland and, most recently, Mason & Dixon. He recieved the national book award for Gravity's Rainbow in 1974.

The 400 or so pages in the middle is built on a premise perfect for its narrative style — a man roaming in the German wasteland right after WWII, chasing a conspiracy intricately woven into his life ever since his birth but at this point already lost its context. Maybe too perfect. Anything goes, on a free range where nothing is going on. As Pynchon sent Slothrop on his odyssey, he could not resist the impulse of wandering off himself, into whatever whim stoke him at the particular moment.
