"Kindergarten-Grade 3-- An easy-to-read, gentle story of a young cat sent off to find a job. Buzby is interested in being a mouser, but only until a big dog appears. When he thinks about applying for the job at the Buttercup Dairy, a big gray cat pushes him out of the way. While wandering around, he comes across a sign for a "busboy," and is sure that it&#039;s the job for him. There he helps an opera singer to sing again, and makes a sad king laugh, but he causes such a commotion that he is fired. The manager then finds Buzby a job that uses his talent for making people happy--he becomes the doorman, taking care of the hotel&#039;s guests. Himmelman&#039;s softly brushed illustrations complement the text and keep readers engaged. Buzby&#039;s persistence will inspire some, while others will enjoy the story for what it is: not very exciting but not too dull."
