　　　　就像奧德修斯在返鄉中往往有諸神或是神的後裔陪伴那樣，最初引比爾博踏上旅途的人中就有身為創世神靈助手“邁雅”的甘道夫，熟悉《魔戒》故事的人一定還記得他有多重要，並且甘道夫還曾是老圖剋——比爾博的外祖父的故交，老圖剋的長壽與英勇的冒險行為早就是霍比特人的傳奇。
