评分##笔触极其细腻。封面上的油画是法国马奈的杰作The Execution of Emperor Maximilian. 在父亲被绑架失踪后，作者发现自己无法在美术馆长时间停留，于是他每天到伦敦住所附近的国家美术馆待十五分钟，只看一幅画，看完一幅画往往要花好多天。许多年后当他几乎确认父亲遇难的日期，翻开日记他发现那天他反常地睡到中午才起床，到美术馆后决定结束上一幅看了几个月的画，无意识间选择开始看这幅与他父亲的遭遇相呼应的作品。即使在父亲失踪三十年后，写这本书时作者也没有找到任何有关他父亲结局的确切证据，最后令他不得不接受的，就是这一命运的暗示。书中的返乡之旅，是在利比亚推翻卡扎菲之后短暂的和平时期，一切都充满希望，然而这一切稍纵即逝。不知道作者在面对那之后直到现在的乱局，又是怎样的一种痛苦。

评分##逝者已逝。活着的人，言道其尚存，这般关于死的感受性描述，充其量只是亲人的placebo，无益于我们对死的理解。当然，我赞成作者关于人在时间与空间序列上对他人的影响的判断——生命是河，每个人都是过客，但过客值得纪念与缅怀的地方，恰恰在于曾让这条河激荡起涟漪，泛起过浪花。承认父亲仍然尚在人间，对我们这些旁观者而言，实在无足轻重，个人的歇斯底里不足为外人道。但回来本身，是富有象征意义的。年龄越大，越会发觉生命是个轮回，那种超脱规律与生命进程的“失控”是很少的，甚至在一个更绵长的时间范畴中，都是某种重复。拒绝与卡扎菲儿子的媾和，这样的政治合作可以再进一步拓展。
