Alicia Berenson’s life is seemingly perfect. Theo Faber is a criminal psychotherapist who has waited a long time for the opportunity to work with Alicia. His determination to get her to talk and unravel the mystery of why she shot her husband takes him down a twisting path into his own motivations—a search for the truth that threatens to consume him....

##Brilliant！巧妙地利用了章节间的衔接和切换，混淆了不同故事线之间的时间线，成功保持悬疑和神秘到最后。看到后面大呼“中计啦”的就是我。被糊弄了呢，却又很开心，哈哈哈哈，怕就怕糊弄不到读者的悬疑作品。用有句港剧常用台词总结就是——神又系你，鬼又系你！“Unexpressed emotions will never die. They are buried alive，and will come forth later，in uglier ways.”所以情绪一定要得到有效的发泄，屈埋屈埋就会屈出病来。喜欢小说里用的Alcestis这个冷门的希腊神话，不过抛开小说单从神话本身来说，我跟作者理解得有点不一样，我理解Alcestis的沉默偏向于哀莫大于心死，而不是murderous rage。 @2020-01-31 22:15:28 @2021-12-22 11:06:45
评分##Alcestis这个古希腊悲剧的设定棒呆，揭露了关于Alicia的部分真相，又完全掩盖住了Theo这个部分。看书的前半部分感觉自己都要变成Alicia了，总觉得哪里不对，可是说又说不出来……到最后几章揭露真相的时候只有Bone-chilling能形容我的感受。看完以后就只想说：卧槽，我就说感觉前面哪里有问题嘛，原来是这样！！！！

评分近几年看过叙述最棒的故事之一 读完很想找人讲话 又感觉像题目里的女主角一样哑口无言 跟“gone girl”大卖之后成堆出现的俗套“心理悬疑/人格分裂”类妖艳贱货很不一样 this debut novel is fresh, bone-chilling, meticulous, and disturbingly good. 每一章都很短 你会一直跟自己说just one more chapter然后完全放不下来 到后半部分你觉得在震惊里经历了“ah ha”moment之后 结尾还有更强大的反转等着你 整个叙事和句式风格明明都很easy 但读完让你感觉deeply uneasy 推荐给想读个好故事、但不介意情感上有几天包袱的人
评分##3星半吧。故事还可以，有psychological thriller共通的优势（情节抓人，读起来放不下）和缺点（后劲小/值得回味的地方少，甚至越回味越不对劲），人物就差一些。如果读一本书只是为了那一个twist，无论读的时候猜不猜得到，我好像都不太喜欢。

评分##BOTM拿到的先发版，一个周末就读完了。psychological thriller读得不多，这本给我了一种第一次读and then there were none的感觉。有些地方还是会很强烈的感受到是作者写的第一本小说，但是整体真的是很赞
评分##是那种一开始读就停不下来的故事。期待电影。
