Yoko Ogawa has won every major Japanese literary award. Her fiction has appeared in the New Yorker, A Public Space and Zoetrope. Her works include The Diving Pool, a collection of three novellas, The Housekeeper and the Professor, Hotel Iris and Revenge.
Hat, ribbon, bird, rose. To the people on the island, a disappeared thing no longer has any meaning. It can be burned in the garden, thrown in the river or handed over to the Memory Police. Soon enough, the island forgets it ever existed.
When a young novelist discovers that her editor is in danger of being taken away by the Memory Police, she desperately wants to save him. For some reason, he doesn’t forget, and it’s becoming increasingly difficult for him to hide his memories. Who knows what will vanish next?

評分 評分##日本文學有種很獨特的，哀而不傷的悲涼感。故事明明很絕望，卻又好像又有希望一樣，真真假假，讓人想象不到走嚮。這本書關於記憶的探討，還是挺引人深思的，美好的事物到底是因為存在在記憶裏纔美好，還是因為美好事物本身？有些微不足道的事情，從不曾留意，卻悄悄牽動著一係列對生活的認知，一花一世界，一葉一菩提，可能就是這個意思吧。不是五星單純覺得好像還能夠再挖深一點，有點不得勁的感覺

評分##給三星是因為故事還能夠帶給我些思考。我不喜歡這本書的筆觸，太碎瞭。大量的文字用來描繪不重要的細節，並沒對整體起到什麼作用。物體的消失也沒有一個邏輯或節奏，整體看下來就是一個戀愛腦的姑娘取悅一個有婦之夫的故事。人物的構建都不夠豐滿，有種憑空齣現，沒有曆史，沒有根的感覺。當然，故事的走嚮也沒什麼未來瞭。但，它讓我想到瞭魯迅先生形容的那些麻木的人。當人們習慣瞭失去，又終將死亡，一切又有什麼意義。當你感受不到擁有，有沒有都沒什麼關係。還是挺悲哀的。 細膩的文筆，有共鳴的日常生活，穿插著女主人公——一個小說傢寫的關於“typist”的小說情節，都讓人忍不住讀下去。但結局似乎早有預料，島上的東西包括人最終都會disappear。 盡管記憶的消失不可抵抗，島上的規則如此，甚至有“記憶警察”一職監督這一過程正常進行，但最後會...
