為乾隆皇帝收藏的“四美”與“三友”七幅畫作，涵蓋瞭人物畫、山水畫、花鳥畫三科，時代跨度從晉代直至明代，可以說反映瞭中國傳統繪畫的基本特徵；同時，其傳承、流失和收藏現狀也堪稱清宮散佚文物的縮影。而“四美”和“三友”作為繪畫個體，長期以來受關注的程度十分懸殊，作為“四美”和“三友”兩個群體，更是有被湮沒遺忘的危險，因此，《乾隆四美與三友》對此七幅畫作的創作過程、曆代題跋、流傳經過以及當年乾隆皇帝用來收藏畫作的“四美具”與“三友軒”進行研究，在文物、曆史和宮廷文化領域都具有重要的意義。作者簡介
段勇，1967年齣生，四川省敘永縣人，北京大學考古學博士。曾在中國曆史博物館和國傢文物局工作，現為故宮博物院副研究館員，長期從事文物、博物館研究。齣版瞭《商周青銅器幻想動物紋研究》、《當代美國博物館》、《明清皇宮紫禁城》三部專著和《東亞藝術與美國文化》一部譯著，並發錶過，《從考古發現看龍的起源及早期麵貌》、《古物陳列所的興衰及其曆史地位述評》、《博物館與文化遺産的“普世”問題探析》等二十餘篇專業論文和學術文章。內頁插圖
