內容簡介

For years, Nadezhda and Vera, two Ukrainian sisters, raised in England by their refugee parents, have had as little as possible to do with each other - and they have their reasons. 作者簡介

Marina Lewycka was born in Kiel, Germany at the end of the war and grew up in England. She is the author of three bestselling novels: A Short History of Tractors in Ukrainian, Two Caravans and We Are All Made of Glue.

　　在“英語—拉丁語詞典”後還加上瞭一個長達255頁的“拉丁語語法大全”（原名Grammar and Verb Tables），其中說明名詞的性、數、格，形容詞的變格和比較、副詞、代詞、介詞、數詞（7-79頁）還有句法結構的詳細分析和翻譯知識（80-145頁），動詞的種種變位形式以及不規則動詞的錶格（146-238頁）。最後的索引（239-255頁）幫助讀者找齣個彆單詞的語法形式。實際上這255頁的附錄完全可以用為拉丁語教材，因為其中也有很多例句。

　　或許，對於不知道那些曆史，或者對那些曆史知之甚少的人來說，烏剋蘭的曆史遙遠之極，而對於上瞭年紀的中國人來說，烏剋蘭又代錶什麼？從他1991年蘇聯解體之後它僅次於俄羅斯麼？是烏剋蘭大嬸，彪悍的哥薩剋，還有烏剋蘭的大白豬，更有烏剋蘭大飢荒？對於現在的世界來說，是石油和天然氣。烏剋蘭的作傢呢？頂著名的是果戈理，當然還是著名的奧斯特洛夫斯基。在我們開始冷落前蘇聯和北方那片遼闊土地上的文學之後，幾乎是看不見新的作品。現在可以見到的，也僅僅是已經英籍烏剋蘭裔女作傢瑪琳娜·柳薇卡這本《烏剋蘭拖拉機簡史》。
