Mild-mannered Oxford scholar John Ronald Reuel Tolkien had little inkling when he published The Hobbit; Or, There and Back Again in 1937 that, once hobbits were unleashed upon the world, there would be no turning back. Hobbits are, of course, small, furry creatures who love nothing better than a leisurely life quite free from adventure. But in that first novel and the Lord of the Rings trilogy, the hobbits Bilbo and Frodo and their elfish friends get swept up into a mighty conflict with the dragon Smaug, the dark lord Sauron (who owes much to proud Satan in Paradise Lost), the monstrous Gollum, the Cracks of Doom, and the awful power of the magical Ring. The four books' characters--good and evil--are recognizably human, and the realism is deepened by the magnificent detail of the vast parallel world Tolkien devised, inspired partly by his influential Anglo-Saxon scholarship and his Christian beliefs. (He disapproved of the relative sparseness of detail in the comparable allegorical fantasy his friend C.S. 環保紙 小字 很多人嫌棄字小 可是我感覺原版書都是這個樣的呀 所以書輕便於攜帶。看著的確費力，但是原版書隻能將就瞭，當時看完哈利波特感覺眼睛都要瞎瞭哈哈哈

　　餘英男一傢人相見，麵對女兒疑問，餘夫人告訴英男，她本是第二代冰堡弟子，因與陰山書童餘海楓産生戀情私齣師門。深夜，餘傢父老被屠殺殆盡，餘英男被石中玉冒險相救，英男父母寜死不交聖火令雙雙斃命。英男神誌恍惚誤傷石中玉。黑麵認定聖火令藏在餘英男身上，對其窮追不捨，丁引齣劍相救重傷黑麵，綠袍老祖救走黑麵後卻將他殺死，原來陰山頭領烈火是黑麵的哥哥，綠袍殺死黑麵嫁禍丁引。

　　餘英男見到奶娘大鳳媽淚如雨下，神色異常的大鳳媽追問聖火令，英男坦言自己真的不知。丁引護送冰婆婆、李亦奇迴到冰堡，並為冰婆婆治傷。大鳳媽帶英男擺脫綠袍離開客棧，在樹林中遭到烈火埋伏，綠袍將烈火打死，原來烈火是假的。冰婆婆舊傷復發，惟有用童男血方可挽救性命，此時隻有丁引可以擔此重任。餘英男投靠冰堡巧逢石中玉暗許終身。
