　　拿《蒙田随笔》中卷第十六章《谈荣誉》来说吧。我们知道一个事物在人的观念里存在着物的名称和物本身，名称是人们用来指示物的词汇。因此，蒙田指出，名称既不是物的一个部分，也不是物实体的一个部分，而只是在物之外同物连在一起的某个东西。物本身通常保持稳定，所以它的本质不能拔高和充实，但它的名称却可以通过我们的颂扬来加以提高和充实。人类热衷于名利，而蒙田对于名利有相当冷静的认识。他感叹道：我们的内部十分贫乏，我们的本质很不完善，需要不断加以改进，这是我们应该竭尽全力去做的事情。我们全都十分空虚，但我们不应该用空气和词语来填补自己的空虚。为了弥补这一缺点，我们需要更加实在的东西。他说，我们缺乏健康、智慧、美德其他重要的品德，外部的装饰可以等我们得到最主要的东西之后再去考虑。

一直以来都很喜欢读蒙田的作品。耐读，风格也很平易近人，如同他的性情一样。他是个心态很平和的人，生活作风也很低调，但这并不能说他缺乏个性。他的作品不多，只有三本《蒙田随笔》，如果你不停地读，只需一两个星期，就可以把它读完。读完一遍后，你可能还想再细细品味一下，之后，你可能会明白我喜欢它的原因。

英文倒是不难，就是人名太多，又没注解，读着莫名其妙的。京东现在评价奖励豆子，所以想怎么评就怎么评吧，尽量简短些。否则，为了积分粘贴粘贴再粘贴，弄的评价跟裹脚布似的，用手机选购的话，怎一个烦字了得！

　　他相当赞同伊壁鸠鲁“过隐蔽的生活”的主张。他痛斥极端追求荣誉的哲学家卡捏阿德斯说，我感到难受的是，这种看法竟会在被荣幸地称为哲学家的头脑中产生。他说，有人为人正派只是为了让别人知道，让别人知道后更器重他，他只有在别人可能知道的情况下采取做好事，对这样的人不能期望过高。他说，正直的人做了好事会感到心满意足。表现勇敢应该是为了自己，而且这样的好处，就是培养十分坚强的内心，可以抗拒命运的任何打击……同荣誉相比，这种好处显得尤为重要，也更值得我们起期望和追求，因为荣誉只是别人对我们的赞赏。
