　　《葛傳椝英文學習法》收錄瞭葛傳椝先生的用英語撰寫的有關英語學習的短文75篇，圍繞英語學習的方方麵麵，提齣瞭作者自己的心得和方法。每一篇文章都可以獨立閱讀，文後輔以注釋，便於理解和學習，深入淺齣，中學生即能讀懂。

作者簡介

　　葛傳椝（1906-1992），復旦大學教授，上世紀50年代復旦大學英語語言文學係“三巨頭”之一。幼時傢境清貧，初中輟學後，自學英語。1921年考入上海電報傳習所，翌年至崇明縣立中學任教。1925年起任上海商務印書館英語編輯，直至八一三中日淞滬戰爭爆發。任職其間發現很多英語單詞的中文詞意義相同，而英語的習慣錶述卻差異很大，即以6年時間編寫《英語習慣用法詞典》，於1942年齣版，是為中國人編寫的第一部英語慣用法詞典。在查閱《簡明牛津詞典》（The Concise Oxford Dictionary of Current English）時，發現其中不少錯誤，即緻信詞典主編英人福勒(H. W. Fowler)，為福勒所欽佩。之後，為中華書局、競文書局編寫英語讀本。1945年起任教於上海光華大學。中華人民共和國成立後，接上級教育主管單位命令，1951年光華大學與大夏大學閤並成立華東師範大學，繼續在此執教至1954年，繼而調往復旦大學外文係任教，直至1986年退休。1992年7月在上海逝世。著有久負盛名的《英漢四用詞典》、《新英漢詞典》（主要編纂者之一），以及《英語慣用法詞典》、《英語寫作》，被學界譽為一代宗師，為中國英語教育界先驅之一。

《詩》文宏奧，包韞六義；毛公述《傳》，獨標“興體”，豈不以“風”通而“賦”同，“比”顯而“興”隱哉？故比者，附也；興者，起也。附理者切類以指事，起情者依微以擬議。起情故興體以立，附理故比例以生。比則畜憤以斥言，興則環譬以托諷。蓋隨時之義不一，故詩人之誌有二也。
