##主要閱讀的民國部分，大部分來自高哲一已經齣版的論文集，依然是從齣版史介入思想文化史的路數，從商務印印書館、中華書局和世界書局這三個近代中國最重要的齣版社入手，討論圍繞著齣版社的知識分子（petty intellectuals這個概念相當有趣，近代以來的知識分子可不僅僅是梁啓超鬍適，主要從事教科書和一般讀物創作的都是所謂的petty intellectuals）、齣版印刷主義、知識生産和與政權之間的互動關係。

##部分章節之前有過漢譯和會議發錶瞭。目前的一些感覺：貴領域發掘材料的廣度和深度能到達何處？這本書不算是非常紮實的。現有的材料來看，無非是如何闡釋的問題，好像很難再看到像李孝悌當年使用報紙材料那樣讓人耳目一新的嘗試瞭。關於改造部分，籠統地搞齣來一個pedagogical state的論法其實意義不大。“文化政治”，著眼點在政治上，政治講不通就不是有穿透力的研究，這一點還是費約翰搞得好。

##高哲一提到瞭“文化的物質麵”：不是印刷材料也不是印刷技術，而是知識構建中的“日常操作”。在這裏包括瞭主體階層、社會傳統與價值信念。這個框架倒是很像斯梅爾賽的自我、結構與信念。
