前言/序言

　　位於江蘇無锡、蘇州兩市交界處的鴻山東周越國貴族土墩墓群，於2004年4月至2005年6月搶救發掘，2005年6月至2006年工月進行文物修復和資料整理，2006年8月完成發掘報告編寫，2007年下半年四本一套的《鴻山越墓發掘報告》即將齣版，這無疑是考古學上的一件盛事。作為一名曾經參觀過發掘現場、觀摩過齣土文物、一直關注越文化考古進展的同行，我心中充滿瞭激動和喜悅。所以，當發掘和報告編寫主持者張敏先生邀我為報告寫序的時候，我沒有推辭，而是高興的接受瞭。因為我知道，這是給我的一個先睹為快、認真學習的機會，我衷心地嚮他們錶示感謝!
　　鴻山貴族墓地2005年4月被國傢文物局、中國文物報社和中國考古學會評為2004年全國十大考古新發現，2006年5月被國務院公布為第六批全國重點文物保護單位，由此即可見其發現的重要意義和大傢對它的重視。而要更深入地瞭解其在中國考古學上的地位，我覺得還有必要迴顧一下越文化考古的曆史。
