随着“一带一路”建设的开展和人们对于丝绸之路学术研究的深入，丝路文化得到了空前的繁荣，以丝绸之路为题材的各种小说、诗歌、电影、戏剧、音乐、舞蹈、美术、摄影等等，应运而生，而且脍炙人口，备受欢迎。但是，以漫画形式表现丝绸之路的作品，还不多见。因此，我们策划出版这一套七册的连环漫画。经过专家的推敲定稿后，邀请当代中国十多位漫画家绘制。这些艺术家绝大多数毕生从事漫画创作，在国内甚至海外具有很高的知名度。一些主创人员沿着丝绸古道的黄金路段，进行观摩体验，对创作中体现敦煌风格的有关问题进行了研讨。应该说，这套丛书凝聚了编者和漫的心血。它的问世，增添了用漫画手法表现丝绸之路的新形式，诙谐幽默、可读性强，为丝路文化注入了新鲜内容。
